Cotton Dress Material – Cotton is a cool, supple and a favorite fabric. The “breathing” fabric has seen various changes in its style and function. It has been blended with other materials and fabrics for a smoother quality and finish. But whatever results, “100 percent” cotton can give; no other material has that edge. Designers, retailers and manufacturers across the world especially design clothes for men and children prefer cotton in various styles, shapes and designs. They can be used for casual or formal events.
Permanent finishes added to the Cotton Dress Material has a wash-and-wear property. Cotton fiber is extracted from the seed pod. It is hollow in the center. Under a microscope it looks like a twisted ribbon. The absorbent cotton retains 24 times its own weight in water and is stronger when wet than dry. The fiber absorbs and releases perspiration quickly, thus allowing the fabric to “breathe”. Cotton Dress Material can stand extremely high temperatures and takes dyeing easily. Chlorine bleach restores the white garments to a clear white. But this bleach may yellow chemically finished cottons or remove color in dyed cottons. A cotton dress material can also be ironed at high temperatures and can stand up to abrasion and wears well.
Mercerized Cotton Dress Material is also treated to permanently straighten the fibers smoothens them and give a rod-like fiber that is uniform in appearance with a high luster. Cotton is often blended with other fibers like polyester, linen, wool, to “blend” the best properties of each fiber.
