Durable Cotton Yarns

Cotton yarn is extensively utilized in manufacturing fabrics for clothes, sewing, crocheting, embroidery, rope making and home textiles like bed spread, curtains, drapes, mattress, table cloth and towels. Its immediate water absorbing trait attracts users.  No other fibre has such characteristics to attain eco-friendly results like cotton yarns. In ancient times, natural herbs like tulsi, turmeric, neem and sandalwood were used to treat cotton yarns in India. These herbal dyes were prepared and used on the fabrics for it to last long. Since they had no other means to dilute cotton yarns, these natural herbs were the best way to treat fabrics that were protective to all skin tones.

100% Cotton yarn can be scoured and carded in a ring turn or open-end for knitting and weaving.  Raw cotton is twirled in to these yarns and threads. There are various types of yarns available in the market today. Each of them has different characteristics and different colors. Cotton yarn has negligible elasticity. Pure cotton yarns are used as sewing threads to manufacture purses, bags, place mats and ropes. They are also used to knit and weave fabrics. They come in varied sizes and types. Lace, sock, double- knit, worsted and bulky are some of the eminent weights of yarn ranging from finest to thickest.

The other wide range of cotton yarns that are available are:

  • Tweed – Yarn of different colors with flecks
  • Ombre – Dappled yarn with light and dark shades
