Khadi Cotton – The pride of India

Khadi is hand woven, handspun, eco friendly and Indian cotton fabric. It is also known as ‘Khaddar’. Khadi cotton is an exclusive Indian textile, very unique and genuine natural cotton, manually operated by spinning the threads on ‘Charka’ which was developed by  father of the nation ‘Mahatma Gandhi’. Some 5000 year ago, Khadi was evolved in India, the original home town of cotton which takes time to be made and manufactured in rural areas of India.

Khadi spinning is generally done by women from lower income group as it was primarily to provide employment to the unemployed rural peoples in India during the fight for Independence against British rule. It is also known as National fabric of India because our National Flag is also made from khadi.         

Khadi cotton is comfortable to wear and very much friendly to the body as it is cool in summer and warm in winter and do not cause any irritation, allergies and it is not even harmful to the skin. This khadi cotton is very soothing as it absorbs moisture and soaks the sweat from the body and also has an ample amount of air ventilation.

In ancient times the quality and exquisite finish of this Indian fabric was widely appreciated. The handspun and hand woven cloth process gives khadi extra finish and extra ordinary texture which is quite appealing and difficult to find in any other artificial fabric.

Khadi fabric is available in all range of designs and colors and there are many types of apparels which are manufactured from khadi cotton as jacket, kurta, sari, salwar kameez, tops, shirts, hankies etc. These days there are many varieties of khadi fabric available in the market namely as khadi silk, khadi wool, khadi cotton etc. It is 100% comfortable, durable and body friendly fabric.
