Cotton is used for innumerable textile products across the world. Besides being used for clothing cotton is used for fishnets, tents, coffee filters and book binding. Cotton yarn too has its own uses for making laces, knitting and crochet. Over a period of many centuries cotton history has also become the chronicler of human civilization. Both have evolved and grown and their relationship is continuous. In fact the cotton history is now coming into a full circle as human beings are trying to grow it in its most natural habitat. They are now using organic methods to bring the produce to its customers. With the turn of the century, recent cotton history now reveals that in most developing countries it is once again a huge source of income. It is becoming an ideal source of employment to farmers, textile mills that almost died, retailers who never felt cotton would return as king.

The recent cotton history also shows that new methods of cultivating the produce and organic treatment has resulted in its recovery as one of the most sought fabric along with rich silk and satin. The earliest cotton history reveals that the yarn was used more to cover the body. Now it is used in many other areas of daily life. This has made the organic fabric more versatile and valuable in terms of money and utility. Right from fertilizers to fuels, fashion to home interiors, cooking oil to soaps, the uses of cotton in many commodities have increased.
